Building Bulletin 93 (BB 93) brought acoustic conditions in schools under Part E of The Building Regulations in 2003. The acoustic environment is of paramount importance in the learning process, as so much of teaching is delivered aurally. As a member of the British Council for School Environments, Apex Acoustics is committed developing the best environmental conditions for schools, including the interdependence of acoustic and ventilation design. Apex Acoustics is experienced in the design of acoustically attenuated, naturally ventilated spaces. Apex works with Local Authorities, PFI teams, estates departments, architects, contractors and teachers to develop the most appropriate solutions to acoustic design issues in educational buildings. We provide advice on all aspects of BB 93 to meet the Building Regulations, including site layout, facade acoustic and ventilation strategies, room planning, construction type, wall and floor details and surface finishes. We also distinguish between performance standards required by BB 93, and guidance to ensure the acoustic conditions that users may expect.
