Apex has been deeply involved with school acoustics for many years; this interest has sparked our own research , as well as making a significant contribution to standards and guidance such as Building Bulletin 93 and coordinating the publication of Acoustics of Schools: a design guide. Read about the changes to the design guidance here. Jack has been busy providing a CPD to architects and contractors on the changes in the schools acoustic regulations and design guidance. Apex Acoustics were proud to open the Institute of Acoustics’ autumn conference 2016, presenting a paper on Practical design and testing to meet the revised BB 93 performance and environmental design standards.
Jack sat on and made significant contributions to the joint ANC / IOA committee that re-wrote Building Bulletin 93 for the Education Funding Agency (EFA). This is available from the government website here.
Apex was the first company to achieve UKAS accreditation for acoustic testing of schools; Jack Harvie-Clark subsequently chaired the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) committee that wrote the Good Practice Guide (GPG) for Acoustic Testing of Schools, which is referenced in the current version of Building Bulletin 93. The ANC GPG Version 2 is available to download free here, which has been updated Jack to reflect the requirements in the current BB 93: February 2015.
